How Do I Correct My Child in Areas Where I Struggle?

Audrey McCracken | Mom Encourager Season 1 Episode 34

How do we train our children in areas where we often struggle and fail ourselves?   How do we correct them without feeling like a hypocrite?  This was a question that often baffled me as a young mom.  Sometimes I didn't deal with issues I knew needed to be addressed because I wasn't sure how to handle them, given my horrible example.

Somewhere along the way I settled in my mind that my children couldn’t wait until I had all my issues resolved before I started correcting and training them, even in areas where I struggled.  They’d still be waiting!  And since I was the only mom they had, I knew it was my responsibility to train them, even in areas where I felt unqualified.

Thankfully, I learned a few tips along the way that have helped me and my kids grow in grace. Remember, while you are parenting your children, God is parenting you.  These five tips helped me move forward in training my children despite my own character flaws.
